Complete Nylon Mooring Strop Assembly Now Available as a Standalone Product

EYE Marine has manufactured complete mooring strop assemblies for commercial marine customers for many years. We have now added our nylon multi-plait mooring strop assembly to the website as a standalone product, making it easier for trade customers to find, specify and order.

The assembly provides a complete connection between a suitable vessel and a permanent mooring buoy. It combines the main mooring line, protected spliced eyes, thimble, shackle, tether and handled pick-up buoy within one made-up product.

It can be supplied individually, in matching sets or in bulk quantities for marinas, boatyards, harbour authorities, commercial vessel operators and other marine organisations and made to your specifications.

Why only now?

Although these assemblies are not new to EYE Marine, they have previously been manufactured as part of individual customer enquiries and wider mooring-equipment orders.

Adding the assembly to the website as a standalone product allows commercial customers to see the standard arrangement, understand what is included and contact us about trade quantities, repeat orders and specification changes.

It also makes it easier for customers to consolidate their purchasing through one commercial marine supplier, rather than ordering the rope, connection hardware, protective sleeves, tether and pick-up buoy separately.

For customers managing multiple vessels or mooring locations, assemblies can be produced to an agreed specification to support consistent replacement and repeat ordering.

A Complete Mooring Strop Assembly

The standard assembly is manufactured using nylon multi-plait rope. Nylon provides useful elasticity within a mooring system, helping the line absorb changing loads caused by vessel movement, tide, wash and moderate wave action.

The vessel end in the image is professionally finished with an approximately 6-inch, or 150mm, protected soft eye. The mooring-buoy end has a spliced hard eye fitted with a thimble and screw-pin bow shackle.

Protective wear sleeves cover the main contact areas to help protect the rope where it bears against vessel fittings or mooring hardware.

A 10mm three-strand nylon tether connects the main strop to an inflated pick-up buoy. The buoy provides approximately 4kg of buoyancy and incorporates a top handle, helping the vessel crew locate and recover the strop during their approach to the mooring.

• Choice of 2m, 3m or 4m main-line length, longer if needed

Variations and Bespoke Assemblies

The standard product provides a clear starting specification, but it does not restrict customers to one arrangement.

Our in-house splicing and rigging service allows us to manufacture variations to suit different vessels, mooring layouts and connection requirements. Depending on the application, available variations can include:

• Different thimbles, shackles and connection hardware
