Soft Eye & Wear-Sleeved Rig

EYE Marine Buoy Rope Set Spliced

At EYE Marine, we specialise in supplying custom mooring solutions for commercial applications – from marina operators and mooring contractors to vessel owners, boatyards and harbour authorities.

Whether you’re managing a busy marina or setting up a new mooring field, we can supply bulk quantities of mooring ropes, buoys and assemblies – professionally rigged, tested and built to last. All assemblies are created in-house by our experienced rigger, Graham, using high-grade marine components and splicing techniques.

Rugged, Boat-Safe Mooring Buoy Assemblies

Orange Foam Buoy Rope KitThis featured example is one of many recent builds from our commercial rope shop. The client needed a boat-safe, damage-free mooring assembly that could withstand the rigours of tidal conditions without compromising hull integrity.

Each unit includes:

  • Foam-filled, unsinkable PVC mooring buoy

  • 8-strand MultiPlait sinking rope – ideal for sub-surface applications

  • Full-length protective wear sleeve – essential for ropes resting on the seabed

  • Galvanised thimble splice on the bottom for hardware connection

  • Soft eye splice at the top – a non-metal loop that prevents hull damage

  • Fully rigged and tested in-house by EYE Marine’s experienced ropework team

Why Commercial Clients Choose EYE Marine

We understand that commercial-grade mooring gear needs to be safe, consistent, and built for long-term performance. That’s why we’ve invested in our own in-house rigging facility, led by our skilled rope specialist Graham, who brings decades of experience in marine ropework and splicing.

We can produce these setups at scale, with consistent quality, and fast turnaround.

Ideal for:

  • Marina installations

  • Mooring contractors

  • Boatyards and slipways

  • Hire fleets and boat clubs

  • Yacht harbours and anchorage zones

  • Councils and harbour authorities

Soft Eye = Zero Hull Damage Risk

One key upgrade on these assemblies is the soft eye splice at the top of the rope. Instead of metal hardware (which can damage boat hulls when the tide lifts a vessel over the buoy), the soft eye is made entirely from rope.

This design is especially important for marinas or mooring providers who want to reduce liability, protect customers’ boats, and maintain a professional standard across all their mooring gear.

Fully Wear-Sleeved for Submerged Rope Protection

Because we use sinking MultiPlait rope, the line often lies on the seabed at low tide. Each rope is fitted with a full-length wear sleeve to resist abrasion from rocks, shells or seabed debris — extending the service life of your moorings and reducing maintenance costs.

Need Multiple Units or Bulk Supply?

We can manufacture these assemblies in any quantity – from one-off replacements to full marina deployments. Let us know the specifications (rope length, buoy size, connection hardware) and our team will build to suit.

All work is carried out by hand in our own rigging department, ensuring consistent quality and fast lead times.
