Product Description
Mid-link Chain
SKU:
Mid-link mooring chain has overall link dimensions that do not exceed 6 times the material diameter (A) and 3.6 times the material diameter in overall width (C). For example a link 10mm Mid-link chain should have outside link dimensions no larger than 60 x 36mm thus (internal dimensions would be 40mm internal length x 16mm internal width).
Mid-link chain is a good compromise for mooring use, offering most of the benefits of short link together with the ability to allow the use of shackles with the same body size as the link material.
As stockist of commercial midlink chain, we hold stock for pallet delivery to the UK and EU with a cut to length service, also used commercial chain.

Product Description
Mid-link mooring chain is widely used across commercial and leisure marine applications due to its balanced link proportions and practical handling characteristics. The link geometry is defined so that the overall length does not exceed six times the material diameter, and the overall width does not exceed 3.6 times the diameter. In practical terms, a 10mm mid-link chain will typically have maximum external dimensions of approximately 60mm in length and 36mm in width, with internal dimensions around 40mm by 16mm. This controlled sizing gives the chain a consistent profile that performs reliably under load while remaining compatible with standard marine fittings.
For mooring applications, mid-link chain sits between long link and short link chain in terms of performance. It offers much of the strength, weight distribution, and seabed holding characteristics associated with short link chain, while retaining enough internal clearance to accept shackles and fittings that match the chain diameter. This makes it a practical choice where secure connections are required without stepping up to oversized hardware. The result is a chain that is easier to handle, more adaptable on site, and suitable for a wide range of mooring configurations including buoys, risers, and general anchoring setups.
Mid-link chain is commonly selected where reliability and ease of installation are both priorities. The tighter link structure reduces excessive movement and wear compared to long link chain, improving longevity in tidal and high-load environments. At the same time, it avoids the restricted access issues of short link chain, allowing for straightforward assembly and maintenance using standard shackles and connectors.
As a commercial chain stockist, EYE Marine supplies mid-link mooring chain suitable for demanding marine environments. Stock is held for palletised delivery across the UK and EU, with a cut-to-length service available to match specific project requirements. This ensures customers receive the correct length and specification without unnecessary joins or modifications on site. All chain supplied is suitable for commercial use, whether for ports, marinas, marine contractors, or heavy-duty private moorings where dependable performance is essential.
