Complete Commercial Mooring Strop Assembly

This 24mm nylon multi-plait mooring strop is manufactured as a complete assembly for permanent connection to a fixed mooring buoy.

It is suitable for marine operators responsible for workboats, harbour craft, marina fleets, service vessels and other suitable commercial craft using single-point or buoy moorings.

The assembly remains attached to the mooring buoy between vessel movements. As the vessel approaches, the handled pick-up buoy allows the crew to locate and recover the strop before bringing the protected soft eye aboard and securing it to a suitable cleat or other approved vessel fitting.

24mm Nylon Multi-Plait Construction

The main line is manufactured from 24mm nylon multi-plait rope. Nylon provides useful elasticity within a mooring system, helping the line absorb changing loads caused by vessel movement, tide, wash and moderate wave action.

The multi-plait construction is flexible, manageable and suitable for professional splicing. Its balanced construction also avoids the cockling and deformation that can affect three-strand ropes when a vessel repeatedly rotates around a swinging mooring.

Protected Vessel Connection

The vessel end is finished with an approximately 6-inch, or 150mm, protected soft eye.

This eye can be passed through a suitable fairlead, brought over a bow roller or secured directly around an appropriately sized cleat. A protective wear sleeve covers the principal bearing area to reduce direct abrasion where the rope contacts deck fittings.

Mooring-Buoy Connection

The opposite end is professionally spliced around a thimble to form a protected hard eye. A screw-pin bow shackle is included for connection to a suitable attachment point on the mooring buoy.

Additional protective sleeving covers the principal contact areas and exposed sections of the main rope.

Pick-Up Tether and Buoy

A 10mm three-strand nylon tether is spliced to the soft-eye end of the main strop and connected to an inflated pick-up buoy.

The buoy shown provides approximately 4kg of buoyancy and incorporates a top handle, allowing the assembly to be located and recovered as the vessel approaches its mooring.
