Product Description

Stainless Steel Dee Shackle

Stainless Steel Dee Shackles are strong, corrosion-resistant connection components designed for marine mooring, lifting, rigging, boat maintenance and general outdoor applications. The D-shaped profile helps keep the load aligned, making these shackles particularly suitable for straight-line connections between chains, ropes, cables, lifting accessories and other compatible marine hardware.

Stainless steel construction provides excellent resistance to rust and corrosion compared with standard carbon steel hardware. This makes Stainless Steel Dee Shackles a practical choice for marinas, boatyards, commercial vessels, marine engineers, harbour equipment and coastal installations where equipment may be exposed to moisture, spray and saltwater.

Marine and mooring applications

Stainless Steel Dee Shackles are suitable for connecting components within boat and yacht mooring systems, marina equipment and general marine rigging. Typical uses include attaching chain to fixed points, connecting mooring components, securing ropes and cables, joining compatible fittings and replacing worn or corroded shackles during vessel or marina maintenance.

The Dee-shaped design is suited to controlled, in-line loading and is useful where a narrower connection is preferred over the wider clearance provided by a bow shackle. This makes the shackle suitable for fixed connection points, structured installations and marine hardware where the load direction is reasonably predictable.

Lifting, rigging and maintenance applications

Where the selected shackle is correctly rated and approved, Stainless Steel Dee Shackles may be used for suitable lifting, rigging and equipment-securing applications. They can connect compatible chains, wire rope, slings, hooks and other lifting or rigging components. Always check the working load limit, load direction and suitability of the shackle before using it as part of a load-bearing system.

They are also useful for general boat maintenance, marine engineering, workshop repairs, dockside equipment and replacement work where a corrosion-resistant connection is required.

Stainless steel protection

Stainless steel provides useful protection against general rust and corrosion, making these shackles suitable for many marine and coastal environments. However, stainless steel is not completely immune to corrosion. Prolonged exposure to saltwater, deposits, contamination or contact with dissimilar metals can lead to staining, pitting or crevice corrosion.

Rinse and inspect the shackle regularly when it is used in saltwater or exposed coastal conditions. Check the body, pin and threads for wear, damage, distortion, cracking, corrosion or other deterioration. Remove the shackle from service if it is no longer in suitable condition.

Choosing the correct Stainless Steel Dee Shackle

Select the correct size according to the chain, rope, cable or fitting being connected and confirm that the shackle is suitable for the intended load. For lifting applications, only use a shackle with a clearly stated and appropriate working load limit as part of a correctly planned lifting arrangement.
