A complete mooring assembly typically consists of ground chain and riser chain, sinkers or anchors to provide ground holding, buoys and surface pick-up equipment, shackles, swivels and connectors, and rope strops, bridles and thimbles where required. Every element has to be compatible in size, strength and specification, and selected according to the vessel type, water depth, seabed conditions and expected usage.
